Epiduo is a prescription topical gel used to treat acne. It combines two established ingredients—adapalene and benzoyl peroxide—in one treatment.
For the standard Epiduo gel, the concentrations are adapalene 0.1% and benzoyl peroxide 2.5%. Adapalene is a retinoid that helps keep pores from becoming clogged; benzoyl peroxide works against acne-associated bacteria and helps address breakouts in a different way. That combination is why the ingredients are discussed together rather than as interchangeable products.
Acne is a medical condition, not a sign of poor hygiene. It can involve clogged pores, inflammation and several kinds of blemishes. Treatment is not an overnight reset, and someone else's routine may not be right for your skin. Your prescriber's instructions—and the labeling for the product you actually have—come first.
